Group therapy is an effective and powerful approach
to both treating stress-related conditions and
finding solutions to the underlying problems.
Not only will you get professional advice from
an experienced specialist, you will also benefit
from experiences and insight of other members of the group.
In a successful group, a unique family-like atmosphere evolves
that makes the sessions attractive and comforting for the participants.
Group therapy sessions are covered by many medical
insurance plans and Medicare.

In our groups, we are dealing with such issues as anxieties and depression,
difficulties at work, burnouts, family problems, conflicts and misunderstandings,
shyness, and many other problems, both unique and common.
Besides the General Support Group, we are running or intending to run
the following specialized groups (for schedules and other details see
http://www.meetup.com/grouptherapynj):

Interpersonal Communication and Relationships Group
Lack of effective communication is the number one relationship killer.
Improving communication leads to greater happiness and success.
This group is for those who feel misunderstood or taken for granted,
wish to reduce tensions at home or at work, overreact or get angry without
apparent reason, deal with anger and verbal abuse from others,
spend too much time at the computer, are tired of having all the family
burdens on their shoulders, or face other stressful interpersonal issues.

Today life charges men with more psychological challenges than ever.
The world changes fast and many men feel unprepared to deal with things
like shifting gender roles, changes in social norms, the flood of divorces,
dealing with female bosses, demanding jobs and working wives,
and many other issues that men face daily. As men, we are often
conditioned to be tough and suppress our feelings and many of us
feel ashamed of showing feelings other than anger. We have a hard time
admitting to failures, abuse, distress and too often we are left alone
to deal with our problems and emotions.

This group is meant for those who are feeling the burdens and stress of
work and trying to balance their personal life without sacrificing their
careers. If you feel you have too little time - you cannot afford to miss this group.
I was once a Wall Street executive and I’ve survived the never-ending work days,
three hour commutes, and midnight phone conferences with partners in Japan.
I’ve had to telecommute on weekends and I’ve been raising two children with my wife.
The others in this group are going through something similar and together
we help each other to learn how to navigate this life without losing our health and
happiness.

Self-Control Improvement Group
It is not safe to suppress our emotions.
They need to be expressed, and it should be done correctly,
otherwise we may hurt others or ourselves. Even people with the best
intentions and a good understanding of what the right and wrong
ways to express emotions are, being angry or under a lot of stress,
may loose it and get into trouble. How can we learn to control
ourselves and express our anger without dangerous aggression?
